Friends & Family

I'm one of those people who obtain the vast majority of their satisfaction from Life through family and friends.  I've learned that primarily from my Dad.  My Dad, though he's never spoken of it directly to me, has quite literally spent his entire life doing for others--friends and family alike.

We pass through these transitions in life where we focus first inwardly, then outwardly.  It was certainly that way in my case.   I think in my Dad's case focusing outwardly just came sooner to him than it does to most of us.  In over 47 years of being sufficiently aware of it to understand, I can't ever remember Dad doing anything for himself.  And yes, there have been times in my life when I may have seen that as a weakness in him.  Thankfully, I've grown more like him over the years than I'd realized I had.  I've come to realize that even though I can never hope to be as good a man as he's been all these years, I can at least embrace the strength of the values he's taught me by his example and continue to aspire to them.

My family and friends
are my world.  And the more I learn about myself, the more I realize how important they've always been to me, how much they've shaped me, and how very simple and satisfying you can make your life if you just let Life happen.

So here they are.  Near and Dear, and Far and Dear alike . . .

And thank you, Dad . . .  for leaving me a lifelong example of unselfish love and devotion, from which to pattern my own life.
